myfilmfinder

Developed myfilmfinder, now live on the App Store.

Harnessing the power of LLM's and one of the largest movie databases in the world, myfilmfinder can find and recommend any film you're thinking of in seconds.

Can't remember the name of that movie you watched a few months ago? Describe a moment, mention a quote, give an actor/director combo, or simply type the vibe and myfilmfinder will pick it up and spit out the exact film you were thinking of.

Additional features include a trending page updated daily with the current movies being watched in your country and full support for Apple’s Liquid Glass design language.

Check it out here.

LLM’s and databases

Using the power of AI, myfilmfinder can find any movie from a given prompt such as a line, a scene, an actor/director combo or simply a moment. For recommendation, it works the same but this time understands a preferred genre, vibe, mood, runtime or even date ranges.

Marrying the power of AI with TMDB, one of the largest movie databases in the world, allowed me to find the user’s film in seconds and present it back with rich, detailed information along with gorgeous posters and backdrops.

A single tap on ‘More Details‘ allows the user to see all the associated information including a dedicated Where to Watch section that shows where a film can be streamed, rented or brought based on location.

myfilmfinder came about from a simple conversation about my favourite topic (movies of course) and which has turned into a passion project I'm quite proud of.

AI has tremendous power for applications in all aspects of life. For me, it was about finding where best to utilise its strengths as an iOS Engineer to ensure it felt seamless to the user. Pairing this power with Apple’s Liquid Glass design language was key in ensuring myfilmfinder was still fun and easy to use.
